Piri is a young kakapo, this puzzling parrot living in New Zealand, incapable of flying and in danger of extinction. His existence is dictated by the rhythm of nature : beautiful, but wild and hazardous, as he's an easy prey. This is not a cause of concern for him, with his sturdy character !
But this is all shaken the day he makes a high-risk encounter, that of human being.
Struggling for his life, Piri takes a leap in the unknown. Time is speeding up, and his only hope would be to make fragile alliances... even if this means having his beliefs called into question ?
This story is the journey of a teenager in his discovery of life, with its share of emotions, through the birth of genuine friendship, through recklessness but also responsibility, through joy and sorrows.
This teenager is a kakapo parrot ; his adventure is unfolding as an ode to wildlife.
I am not a writer, but this story which grew on me, I had to write it ! Therefore here is this novel, for age 10 and above. I hope it will bring awe and dreams to young boys and girls, just like me as a child when I've been amazed at reading episodes of the Book of the Jungle (
